One of the features includes vendor prices when you hover over any item icon. When I am choosing my quest reward (and I've determined it's going to the vendor anyway) I just hover over each item and pick the one auctioneer says will vendor for the most. Since patch 3.0 it's become a little trickier to install auctioneer but it's worth the effort. I simply use auctioneer suite.
