Patch 3.0.3
November 4th, 2008 by Bizzam
So we’re getting another patch today, bringing us to 3.0.3. The warrior changes are mostly in relation to DPS, but there are a couple of changes that could pertain to tanking and they both deal with threat.
Rend: Ranks 9 and 10 now do 35% more damage when the target is above 75% health instead of 4 times damage when the target is enraged. Unfortunately, you cannot get rend rank 9 until level 71 so this really doesn’t pertain to us until Wrath hits, but once you can train it, this might be a good way to generate initial threat. More testing will be needed. Vigilance: Now properly transfers threat generated by heals. In a raid environment, I don’t think you’d ever have vigilance on a healer anyway, so I don’t know that this one makes any difference except maybe in 5 man dungeons. All of the other warrior changes pertained mostly to DPS.
WoWInsider has a nice little writeup about some of the changes. Check it out here.
Wrath is right around the corner now, with less than 2 weeks to go! I hope you have pre-ordered Wotlk already!

Vigilance is handy for the Nightbane fight in Karazhan; if you’re taking a solo healer dump it on them to prevent them getting smashed by bone rain.

I move Vigilance around a lot in five mans. My girlfriend is a pretty nasty holy pally. She usually has the time/mana/inclination to Consecrate a few times in the trash fights so I give her the Vigilance if the dpsers aren’t giving me too much trouble with threat (they don’t).
