Darkmoon Card: Vengeance
|
|||
So today I turned in my [item]Furies Deck[/item] and received my [item]Darkmoon Card: Vengeance[/item]. My standard normal tanking trinkets are now [item]Darkmoon Card: Vengeance[/item] and [item]Gnomeregan Auto-Blocker 600[/item] or [item]Moroes’ Lucky Pocket Watch[/item], depending upon the encounter.
I am hoping it will generate a fair amount of threat in addition to the +51 Stamina. The listed 10% proc rate would basically average out to about 10 points of average return damage per hit. Of course, this trinket will be very nice for multitanking. I’ll report back my findings as I’ve had a chance to try out this new toy

I have always suggested shooting for 12.5k hp & armor as an entry level Kara tank. Work on those dungeon and quest blues to upgrade your pre-raid gear. What are your professions?
Moroes can be tricky for greenhorns to Kara. Having the proper group makeup is important for first timers. You’ll want a couple shacklers, and a trapper at a minimum. Get that mana burn chick down ASAP and don’t let her get a burn off! Kill off 1 other, keep the other 2 CC’d while you kill off Moroes. Being new to Kara, you’ll have to work hard to DPS Moroes down before too many people get Garrote.
As for healing in Kara, I have always put a Paly as the primary MT healer as they are typically the superior single target healer.
What healing crew are you running with exactly?

My professions are enchanting & alchemy. We are reasonably well-geared so I feel it shouldn’t be a problem when reading what people have suggested as a starting point.
Unfortunately as far as group makeup goes, we have to work with what we have in the guild and right now that means only one shackler. The kill order we did right and got to the point where it’s just a matter of out-dpsing garrote but fell short, were not even that close at any point.
We had two shamans and a priest as healers and those are what I can expect us to be able to have in the future although other setups sometimes are possible. What do you think of the idea to go with just 2 healers for moroes and would you say a fully prot-specced off-tank warrior can hold us back?

A full prot-warr offtank is really unnecessary in my experience in Kara and it will hamper you somewhat in the DPS department.
Having only 1 shackle will make it rough for sure on Moroes. No palies also means you can’t BoP the garrote off of healers/dps.
Back to the topic of this post, I ran Kara last night through Chess event and the trinket proc’d 276 times in our 4 hour run (103 mins of DPS) for an average proc rate of 2.7 ppm. It was 1% of my total damage at just over 28k total damage.

Sorry for the le’bump but I heard a guildie talking about getting his furies deck. If this is just a 1% dmg, I’m thinking that it really wouldn’t be worth the effort, right?

To me, it’s more about the STA on a trinket, plus a little extra damage to boot.

On our Gruul kill last night, it proc’d 15 times to do 1% of my total damage (which is tiny in comparison anyway).

That’s interesting because I’ve been thinking of aiming for the exact same trinket combination and just today started buying some of the Furies cards to get it.
My guild finally ventured into Karazhan for the first time last weekend, all of the group being fairly new to the place. We ended up having problems early on with Moroes who drops the other one of those trinkets. Some things with the tactics & lack of dps caused I that I think was our problem.
Having around 12k hp & armor it seemed some of the trash hit hard enough to make it impossible for a priest alone to keep me alive. How much do you think I need before I can shift my focus more on avoidance?
